Professor Sebastian - Pokémon Chronicles (2006)

A professor hired into the ranks of Team Rocket, Sebastian quickly rose through the criminal organisation, becoming a head figure in their scientific endeavours. Operating in their Johto Region division, he
hired many scientists to work on new weapons and traps to aide members in poaching Pokemon, setting up a lab deep beneath the surface of t
he mountains.

He was responsible for the design and manufacturing of the Miracle Crystal, setting up many different fail safes into the device to ensure that it could capture even the strongest of electric Pokemon, completing a prototype of the device for Attila and Hun.


"The Legend of Thunder Part One"

Greeting Hun at the hangar of the laboratory, Sebastian wondered who her new partner was, fascinated to learn of Attila's skills as a pioneer in Pokemon Wrangling. Amused by Atilla's comment that he could capture anything if he had the right tools for the job, he replied that his traps would certainly be suitable for the job.

Asking them to follow him, the Professor took them to the observation room, preparing his team to launch a test run of his latest project, jokily remarking that they would find the display “electrifying”. Hearing the disgust in her voice at the appearance of the device, he remarked that his “Miracle Crystal” could harness and manipulate electricity. Having prepared a demonstration for their arrival, Sebastian gave the orders for his scientists to commence the experiment. Giving the final command for them to fire “artificial lightning bolts” at the crystal, he explains that the crystal has been designed to absorb every single electrical “amp” that is in a ten mile radius of it. He goes with his presentation, adding that no matter how powerful the electricity is, it can be stored and weaponised, as well as is capable of drawing all forms of electrical energy towards it. However he reminds them of their assignment, joking that “we're not after lightning bolts.” He reassures Hun that it will work just as he promised, chuckling to himself.

Dr. Shiranui - Shukan Pokémon hosokyoku (2001)

A doctor operating in the Johto Region, Shiranui was hired by the Rocket Gang to build devices and traps for the criminal outfit, helping them in their poaching and trafficking of illegally obtained Pokemon and items.

Utilising a facility underneath the mountains of the region, he and a team of Rocket funded scientists were responsible for the creation of a prototype device that they called the “crystal field generation device”, which was developed specifically for Electric Type Pokemon. As well as creating numerous settings, he built into the device a fail safe that would make it almost impossible not to capture Pokemon, even if they had Legendary status.

Leading a welcome party to the hangar, Dr. Shiranui welcomed his guests (Basho of the Profit Expansion Division and Buson), asking if they were the ones in charge of his operation. Nodding his head in recognition of names and rank as influential members of Rocket Gang, he told Buson that the instillation of his latest device was ready and standing by, adding that they could activate a test run right away.

Taking them down to the testing facility, Shiranui introduced the pair of them to the Crystal System, ordering his scientists to begin a controlled demonstration. Watching over his teams preparation in the observation room, he gave the command to fire artificially created thunderbolts at the crystal, smiling as the test went off without any problems.

He noted that due to the type of crystal that they had used to create the device, their was a split second delay in the trap, which would not give a Pokemon long to figure out a way to get out of the trap. He goes on to add that due to the “Energy Diode,” all electrical attacks are directed to the crystal and are amplified in order to produce an energy field capable of trapping and incapacitating a Pokemon with their own reflected attacks.

Satisfied with the results, the two Rocket Gang members take the device from him, telling Shiranui that it was up to them to complete their mission.
