Starro's Tentacle - Young Justice (2010)

Having been destroyed by Black Manta during a mission for the Light, Prince Orm pulled the strings for the Echinoderm's tenatcle to be sent to "Surface World", under the pretence that they could study the alien creature in a secure laboratory - whilst making it easier for the Light to make another attempt for it.

The Tentacle had the ability to rapidly regenerate in order to keep Starro alive, eventually capable of producing for him a new body. The tentacle contained dormant abilities of mind control, which were exploited by the Light when it was combined with nano-technology, bio-technology and sorcery.

"Misplaced"

In the adult's dimension created by the combined forces of Klarion, Wotan, Wizard, Felix Faust and Blackbriar Thorn, Lawrence Crock organised a protest outside of S.T.A.R Labs Gotham City division, accusing them of being responsible for the disappearance of their children. This distraction allowed for the Riddler to sneak in and out of the building, stealing Starro's sample and getting away in Crock's car, whilst the  security was focused on aiding the G.C.P.D from preventing a riot from the furious mob.

Riddler and Sportsmaster brought the tentacle to the Brain and Monsieur Mallah, who congratulated Klarion for creating a scenario that caused so much panic, that no one realised that the Echinoderm was missing until it was too late.

"Insecurities"

On the 5th of December, The Brian, Mallah and Klarion hired Sportsmaster to break Professor Anthony Ivo out of prison and escort him to New Orleans, in order to experiment on the tentacle as part of the next stage of their plans against the Justice League.

After Ivo had been reunited with one of his M.O.N.Q.U.I.S, Mallah opened the case and extracted the sample, preparing for the four of them to start working on the creature at the same time. Hitting the tentacle with a laser to awaken it's abilities, the Brain allowed the M.O.N.Q.U.I to insert nano-technology into the flesh, whilst Klarion used his sorcery to add a techno-sorcery element to the being.

The four of them completed the process just as Artemis arrived to stop them. Klarion used his powers to teleport them and the tentacle - along with multiple pieces of Starro Tech, a biological segment of the tentacle mutated and altered by the addition of magic and nano-technology - to safety.

"Auld Acquaintance"

Whilst under the influence of Starro Tech, the end product of the Light's experiments to the tentacle, The Atom (Ray Palmer) was tasked with dissecting pieces of the source material for analysis - so that Ocean Master (Prince Orm) could finish the research that Dr. Vulko had started to Poseidonis. Using a laser to cut the flesh, Zatanna magically levitates a piece, forcing Palmer to increase his size to try and catch it. However this leaves him open to Miss Martian and a sample of the Cure Tech, rendering him unconscious and cancelling Klarion's possession of his mind and body.

Starro - Young Justice (2010)

Originating from out of space, the Echinoderm-esk Starro crashed to Earth millennia ago and was frozen in ice beneath the sea. They were eventually discovered by Dr. Vulko and his team of Atlantean Scientists, who reported their findings to Prince Orm with the belief that it would be the perfect subject for research.

Having them transferred to the Science Centre in Poseidonis, Vulko monitored the Starro as he was preserved in ice.

"Downtown"

After registering traces of life from inside the ice, Vulko contacted Prince Orm, expressing his concerns and worries about Starro demonstrating the ability to think. Because of this Starro became their top priority, making sure that the laboratory was locked down to all except them whilst they worked on him.

Over dinner, Orm reported the news to Aquaman about Starro's condition, as well as Vulko's progress.

Meanwhile Black Manta led an attack on the Science Centre to steal the Echinoderm for a private client, using the Manta Flyer to melt through the roof, whilst his henchmen prepared it for transportation. However this plan was interrupted by the arrival of Aqualad and Garth, breaking out into a full scale fight. As they lift the block of ice towards Manta's ship, Garth cuts the cable with his powers, causing it to shatter and let a tentacle to break free.

As Starro begins to wake up and acclimatise to the change in temperature, Black Manta sent a barrage of rockets to blow the Echinoderm up, declaring that if he could not fulfil the mission to recover the creature, then they would not survive to fall into other peoples hands.

Only a small piece of Starro was salvaged from the wreckage of the lab, stored in a special unit for transportation to the human world, beginning to regenerate only a few hours after the detached from the rest of the main body. Orm told his brother that the best place for Starro to be studied was the Surface, entrusting Aquaman and Aqualad to safely deliver the fragment to Gotham's branch of S.T.A.R Labs, so that it could be carefully be monitored.
