Prince Garin - Histories and Lores Season Five (2015)

Prince of the city of Chroyane, Garin rallied together the bickering Rhoynar leaders and led them against the invading armies of Volantis, amassing the largest army in the whole history (at the time) of Essos.

Despite the numerous disadvantages, the battle ended with the Rhoynar killing two dragons and forcing the third to retreat. Garin was named "The Great" for his leadership and military strategy.

He attempted to end the fight once and for all by marching on Volantis, however was taken prisoner by the Valyrians and placed in a golden cage, forced to watch as his army was massacred before his eyes.

Transporting him back to Chroyance, Garin was helpless to stop the conquerors taking the women and children as slaves. Leaving him to die alone in his prison, the singers created songs that said Garin cried out for the Mother Rhoyne to bring about vengeance upon all his enemies.

The very next night, water and vapour flooded the city carrying the disease known as Greyscale, which many would go on to call "Garin's Curse".
