Wisdom Rossart - Game of Thrones Season Three (2013)

In the final day of Robert Baratheon's Rebellion, after Grand Maester Pycelle persuaded Aerys to open the gate and receive the Lannister army, Rossart stood with the King in the Red Keep and listened to his ravings to use the wildfire against the enemies sacking King's Landing.

However he was killed before he could do so by Jamie Lannister, who was responsible for saving the lives of millions of people, a fact he chose not to tell Lord Eddard Strark as he knew that the latter would judge him no matter what he would say.

"Kissed by Fire"

During his confession about the events of King Aerys II Targaryen's murder, Jamie told Brienne that the "pyromancer" had been ordered to set up their ultimate weapon under various buildings and locations of King's Landing - "under the Sept of Baelor, the streets of Flea Bottom and the Red Keep itself", - ensuring that if the city would fall, all would be consumed by fire.

After giving Jamie the order to "bring him" Tywin Lannister's head, Rossart was instructed to use the Wildfire in order to "burn them all" whether they were fighting in the streets or hiding in their homes.

In an effort to save his family, Jamie used his sword to kill Rossart before he could even act, before killing Aerys as he tried to flee.

Lord Qarlton Chelsted - The World of Ice and Fire (2014)

Loyal to King Aerys II Targaryen, Lord Qarlton of House Chelsted sat on the Small Council and Master of Coin, he enjoyed feeding "The Mad Kings" paranoia with tales of his son's (Prince Rhaegar) plots to overthrow him and crown himself as the King of Westeros.

Upon hearing of the Tourney of Lord Whent to be held at Harrenhal, Qarlton attempted to persuade Aerys not to attend and cancel it, stating it would be a platform for Rhaegar to win support and popularity from houses  and people that were not happy with the rule they were receiving from House Targaryen. Rhaegar's skill in battle also allowed them to try and drive an even bigger wedge between father and son, as did the act of presenting Lyanna Stark with a garland of blue roses.

Having replaced the former Hand of the King (Jon Connigton), Qarlton did his best to counsel Aerys II, only to be deemed as providing information that was causing them to lose the war. In his anger, the King had Wisdom Rossart burn him alive, making his pyromancer the new Hand.

Wisdom Rossart - The World of Ice and Fire (2014)

Originally born without any lands or titles, Rossart trained to become a wisdom and Grand Maester of the Alchemist's Guild. He was hired by King Aerys II Targaryen in the year 280 AC, to oversee and perform executions of the monarch's prisoners using fire. Due to pleasing the "Mad King" with his work, he was granted the title of Lord, as well as a seat on the King's Small Council. Because of this promotion, Lord Rossart was loyal to King Aerys II and had his trust.

After he burned the former King's Hand alive for giving him poor council, Aerys II made Rossart the new Hand, asking him for his advice. He proposed that the "Mad King" use fire to burn his enemies and ensure his reign will go on forever.

However after hearing that the Red Keep had fallen and Princess Rhaenys had been savagely murdered along with her son, Rossart chose to escape from King's Landing, making his way to a postern gate. Reaching the place, he was killed by Ser Jamie Lannister, leaving only Aerys II alive.

"Aerys II"

The author of "The World of Ice and Fire: A Complete Guide to Westeros" - Maester Yandel recounted the tale of how Rossart became Hand to the King, however did not get all the facts right as he had not been there that day. Jamie Lannister witnessed the truth of how Lord Chelsted was burned alive for quitting his role of the Hand, after expressing his disapproval of the "Mad King's" plan to "burn them all."

"The End"

Yandel later expressed his belief that Rossart was a coward, viewing the Hand's death at the postern gate as an attempt to flee the city.

Due to the Wildfire Plot's secretive nature, he was unaware that Rossart was in fact acting upon orders given to him by the Mad King to destroy the city and all the Lannister Forces who were sacking the Stronghold.

He was unaware of who was responsible for committing the deed, so left him as a footnote of Aerys II's history.
