Wisdom Rossart - The World of Ice and Fire (2014)

Originally born without any lands or titles, Rossart trained to become a wisdom and Grand Maester of the Alchemist's Guild. He was hired by King Aerys II Targaryen in the year 280 AC, to oversee and perform executions of the monarch's prisoners using fire. Due to pleasing the "Mad King" with his work, he was granted the title of Lord, as well as a seat on the King's Small Council. Because of this promotion, Lord Rossart was loyal to King Aerys II and had his trust.

After he burned the former King's Hand alive for giving him poor council, Aerys II made Rossart the new Hand, asking him for his advice. He proposed that the "Mad King" use fire to burn his enemies and ensure his reign will go on forever.

However after hearing that the Red Keep had fallen and Princess Rhaenys had been savagely murdered along with her son, Rossart chose to escape from King's Landing, making his way to a postern gate. Reaching the place, he was killed by Ser Jamie Lannister, leaving only Aerys II alive.

"Aerys II"

The author of "The World of Ice and Fire: A Complete Guide to Westeros" - Maester Yandel recounted the tale of how Rossart became Hand to the King, however did not get all the facts right as he had not been there that day. Jamie Lannister witnessed the truth of how Lord Chelsted was burned alive for quitting his role of the Hand, after expressing his disapproval of the "Mad King's" plan to "burn them all."

"The End"

Yandel later expressed his belief that Rossart was a coward, viewing the Hand's death at the postern gate as an attempt to flee the city.

Due to the Wildfire Plot's secretive nature, he was unaware that Rossart was in fact acting upon orders given to him by the Mad King to destroy the city and all the Lannister Forces who were sacking the Stronghold.

He was unaware of who was responsible for committing the deed, so left him as a footnote of Aerys II's history.
