Blue Beetle II - Young Justice Comic (2011)

The alias of Ted Kord, Blue Beetle started operating as a hero around the 1st of November 2011. He wore a costume and goggles to protect his identity from the rest of the world, using his wealth as a means to fund his vigilante lifestyle.

He conceptualised and developed his own tech, relying on that since he had no superpowers, including a Beetle Gun.

Blue Beetle was a hero that eventually made it to the ranks (whether preliminary or full time) of the Justice League, making friends with Nightwing among others. He was designated on their records as being number twenty two.

Blue Beetle was killed one night, leading to the Scarab accidentally ending up in the hands of Jamie Reyes.

"Players, Chapter One; Wheelbarrow, Shoe Thimble"

Whilst trying to recruit the newest Blue Beetle to the Team, Wonder Girl asked Nightwing what was Reyes' relationship to the his predecessor. Dick revealed that Jamie had no connection to him and that the only reason he had the Scarab was because he had been close by on the night that he had been murdered.

He mused that, although Jamie took on the persona of Blue Beetle, he had no training and was using "Ted Kord's greatest invention" mainly for flight around his hometown of El Paso.

"Players, Chapter Two; Directly to Jail"

Introducing himself as a friend of Ted Kord's, Dick expressed his desire to honour his fallen memory and help train Jamie to master his tech to become the newest Blue Beetle.
