Mr. Freeze - Flashpoint: Citizen Cold (2011)

Formerly a scientist named Victor Fries, Freeze became a criminal in a desperate attempt to save his wife Nora from dying from an unknown illness.

At some point in his life, his underwent an incident that caused his body to eventually deteriorated to the point that only his head and mind were functioning.

Freeze developed a suit that allowed him to operate in temperatures above freezing, as well as creating numerous weapons that had the power to encase a target in solid ice. His technology utilised similar properties to that of cryogenic preservation.

Freeze was an old friend of Neil Boreman (The Rogue known as Fallout) and promised him that once he had found the cure for Nora's illness, he would help Boreman to rid him off his radioactive powers, so that he could be reunited with his wife and children.

"Cold-Hearted"

Having heard rumours of the technology he needed to use to save Nora's life being located at the Central City branch of S.T.A.R Labs, Mr. Freeze attacked the facility, only to discover that it had been a set up. Blasting through the wall, he angrily snapped that he did not like being "lied to."

Yelling at panicking citizens to move aside for him, he was confronted by Citizen Cold. He remarked that he did not have time to face the so-called hero, unleashing an ice beam from his gun. However he was hit by Cold's duel wielding ice pistols, sealing his suit in solid ice and screaming in pain. Observing the people chanting for their hero, he declared that Cold was little more than a "sanctimonious fraud," before detaching his helmet from the rest of his armour and scuttling away on robotic legs.

Knocking one of the pistols from his hand, Freeze demanded that Cold left him alone, attempting to escape in the chaos of a van crash. However Cold caught up to him, putting pressure on the casing as the hero boasted that he was the one who had snared the trap for Victor, adding to the distraught husband that Nora would be dead. He was unable to protect himself from Cold's killing shot, ending his life - with the latter claiming that "dyin' for love is the dumbest reason."
