Rossart - A Storm of Swords (2000)

Having been made a lord by King Aerys II Targaryen, Wisdom Rossart created a sigil for himself, inspired by the pyromancy and fire he loved so much - "a burning torch" with green flames spread out on a backdrop of silver. He had originally been a "lowborn", working his way up from an Acolyte to Wisdom of the Alchemist's Guild.

Rossart was the pyromancer to personally "cook Lord Rickard Stark in his own armour", which became Aerys II's favourite form of torture and execution. Rossart had been the last ever Hand to ever serve King Aerys II, gaining the position after Aerys II had the last Hand (Lord Chelsted) burned alive. He was in that position for "a fortnight".

Rossart and other mages of the guild, Belis and Garigus had been busy over a period of three nights, placing caches of Wildfire throughout King's Landing - "Beneath the Sept of Baelor, the hovels of Flea Bottom, under the stabes and storehouses, at all seven gates, even in the cellars of the Red Keep itself." He had used maps of King's Landing to decide the best places to put them that would do the most damage, growing excited at the thought of all the destruction it would cause to Westeros and the realm.

King Aerys II told him that all he would give Robert Baratheon and his rebel forces was "naught but ashes."

In his last report to his liege lord, he announced that the Lannister forces had breached the walls of the city. He had been advising the King when Jamie requested a meeting between himself and his father, begging for a peaceful conclusion, standing beside Aerys as he decreed that the King's Guard kill Tywin Lannister and bring him his head to prove he was no traitor.

At Aerys II orders, Rossart left the Red Keep to begin initiating the Wildfire Plot. He and a handpicked group of Wisdoms set about with their mission to destroy King's Landing. Changing into clothes that would make him look like a "common man-at-arms", Rossart made his way to the postern gate. However Jamie Lannister ensured that Rossart could not destroy the city, stabbing him to death, before going to face King Aerys II with the Wisdom's blood still on his sword.

"Jamie II"

Thinking back to the final moments of the Sacking of King's Landing, Jamie regretted gutting Rossart as he had done, believing it would have been better to drown him and smother out his desire for fire and ash.

Upon revealing to Aerys II that he had killed Rossart, the King excreted in fear and proceeded to run. It surprised Jamie that Aerys hadn't fought back, unlike Rossart, who attacked Jamie with tricks of alchemy, but was easily defeated by the King's Guard. Jamie was equally shocked that nobody cared who killed him, remarking it was probably due to his status as "another mad fancy of the Mad King."

"Jamie V"

Prior to their meeting with Roose Bolton, Jamie recounted the Sacking of King's Landing to Brienne in the Bathhouse of Harrenhal as fever took him, including how he had murdered the pyromancer. When asked why he hadn't revealed the truth, Jamie decalred it was his job as a King's Guard to "keep the Kings secrets."
