Maester Caleotte - A Feast For Crows (2005)

A maester in the service of Prince Doran Martell and his court at the Martell families' retreat of the Water Gardens, Caleotte tended to the Prince's gout, as well as the other duties designated to members of the Orders of Maesters; tutor, healer and councillor. He had been in the service of the Martell Family for many years, serving Doran's mother when she was the Princess and Lady of the Sunspear.

As a child, he was fortunate enough never to contract the disease redspots, which could be lethal to those who catch it when they were adults and only occurred once.

To aid his Lord in his mobility, Caleotte designed and built a wheelchair for Doran, that could be moved by the Prince himself or by the Captain of his guard Areo Hotah.

He was considered to be extremely clever and wise with his council by the members of his court, however "meek".

"The Captain of the Guard"

Receiving a raven from King's Landing addressed to Prince Doran, Caleotte felt unnerved by sight of the scroll, entrusting Hotah to personally hand it to the Lord of Sunspear in his place.

Caleotte tried desperately to catch up with Obara Sand, trying desperately to calm her down and explain that Prince Doran had already heard about Oberyn's death at the hands of the Mountain, however the enraged Sand Snake moved too quickly for him to do so.

He remained after the confrontation between Obara and her uncle, attending to Doran and asking if he needed to take a draft to ease the pain of his gout, however the Prince dismissed the suggestion with the fact that he would need to keep his faculties. Wondering if it was safe to allow her to return to the Sunspear alone - where she could attempt to inspire the people of Dorne to avenge their beloved Prince Oberyn - Doran said that he would go there too.

Noting his Prince's instructions to send a messenger ahead of him to prepare his apartments in the Tower of the Sun, he again wondered if what he was doing would be a dangerous move, but Doran once again shrugged of his concerns as a need for necessity. He warned the Prince that he was under constant scrutiny from Ser Arys Oakheart of the Kingsguard, who was in constant contact with Cersei Lannister and the Small Council. Bowing as he received his final instructions, Caleotte went to carry out his orders and organise a litter to transport Doran back to his ancestral home.

Caleotte set out with Doran and his party on a donkey, riding behind the litter as the procession made their way to Sunspear.

After Tyene Sand was dismissed from the throne room, the Maester rushed to see whether Doran's niece had scratched him during her heated discussion, relieved that she had not done so. On his command, he rushed to get the Prince a "thimble full" of Milk of the Poppy to numb the pain.

"The Queenmaker"

Believing that Princess Myrcella had been infected with redspots - not realising it was a lie to get her out of Sunspear - Caleotte gave Ser Arys a special ointment that would help stop the infection from growing worse, adding that they would just need to give her time to rest and recover.

"Princess in the Tower"

Following Areo Hotah's return to Sunspear with the wounded Myrcella, Maester Caleotte took the young Lannister into his care. Although he managed to save her life, he was unable to completely heal the deep gash and missing right ear that she had sustained from Ser Gerold Dayne, no matter how many "poultice or potions" she was treated with.

He informed Prince Doran that his ward was going to live, who was both relieved and furious that his plans for revenge against the Lannisters had almost been destroyed by his daughter Arianne's impatience.

The Children of the Forest - Complete Guide to Westeros (2011)

Originating from the beginning of time, the Children of the Forest were the original inhabitants of Westeros. Forming settlements for themselves in cranogs, caves and hearts of the
forests, they worshipped the Old and Faceless Gods, going so far as to have their most powerful mages - The Greenseers - carve faces into the centre of weirwood trees.

They were hunters, developing blades out of pure obsidian and bows that were crafted from weirwood.

They were considered by all sources of the legends to be small and beautiful humanoids with an affinity to the arcane arts.

When the First Men arrived from Essos across the Arm of Dorne, the Children took up arms against the invaders, who had declared the country for themselves and began slashing and burning their forests and weirwoods. The war was long and bloody, leaving much destruction in it's wake, however eventually came to an end when the two sides negotiated a truce.

Meeting the First Men on the God's Eye, the two formed The Pact, which was an agreement that the men could have all land, with the exception of the forests. A second condition was that the invaders would no longer be allowed to cut down weirwood trees. Finding the terms to be agreeable, the pact was forged, with the Children carving a face into every tree on the island (The Island of Faces) in the name of the Gods.

Brandon the Builder enlisted the Children to aid them in building the Wall, with the intention that it would lead to the prevention of the Long Night repeating itself.

However the pact was shattered when the Andals arrived and slaughtered most of the Children, forcing them
to retreat to the furthest possible reach of the North.

King Bumi - Avatar: The Last Airbender: Book One: Water (2005)

Born and raised in the city of Omashu, Bumi was an Earthbender and friend of the Avatar Aang, who often came to visit him. Growing up, he developed a new purpous using the Omashu delivery carts in races, as the "world's greatest super slide". He added to the sceptical Aang that he should not to just see what was there, but instead think about the potential an object could have. He was pleased for being called a "Mad Genius".

Over the years, Bumi grew to become advanced in the art of Earthbending, eventually being crowned the King of Omashu.

At some point he met and trained a wild goat gorilla, taming the animal and keeping it with him as a pet, giving him the name Flopsie.

"The King of Omashu"

After Aang, Katara and Soka were arrested by the Omashu City Guard for the severe destruction of property whilst racing one of the delivery courts, King Bumi was informed of the disturbance and demanded that they be brought before him. However upon seeing the young Airbender, the monarch recognised him to be his old friend, but choosing instead to toy with Aang rather than reveal himself. When called upon to pass judgement for their crimes, Bumi declared that that they should be "throw{n} a feast," to the surprise of all and the annoyance of an irate cabbage salesman.

Hosting his guests at the great feast table, Bumi remarked that many of the people of the city had over indulged with banquets, inquiring if Aang liked his skinless chicken - unaware that his friend was a vegetarian. Instead he turned to Soka and shoved it in his mouth, remarking that he imagined that he would like it instead.

Taking a seat at the head of the table, he politely asked the "young bald one" where he was born, seeing through all of Aang's lies and making jokes at his expense. Adding that the last he had heard of "Kangaroo Island" (where Aang said he was from) it was "really hopping". Yawning he told them that his jokes were making him feel exhausted, adding that it was time for them to retire. Yet before anyone can react, Bumi chucked a chicken wing at Aang, forcing him to display his ability to manipulate wind. He told his astounded guard that they were in the presence of the Avatar, triumphantly asking how he planned to deny his abilities and addressing him by the alias he had used to enter Omashu in the first place.

Katara demanded that they "let {us} leave," only making him pick up a lettuce leaf and make a joke about their current predicament. His tone became more serious as he commanded Aang to compete in three tasks, dismissing them to go to "the newly refurbished chamber" - making it very clear to his guard that he wanted them to be taken to the chamber that had used to been bad until the refurbishments. Continuing off tangent, he mused that they should in fact number the chambers to prevent any more of these conversations from happening, taking another bite of lettuce as they were escorted from the throne room.

Ordering his guards to kidnap Katara and Soka, he summoned Aang to the throne room, demanding to know what he thought about his new robes and adding that he genuinely wanted his opinion. Upon hearing Aang comment that it was "fine", Bumi congratulated him for passing the first test, however noted that the tests that were yet to face were far more taxing. Listening to Aang's refusal to partake, he stated that he had guessed that this eventuality would happen, revealing his hostages and their fate - they are to wear rings of "pure Jennamite" (the creeping crystal) that would encase their whole bodies in the stuff by evening. He felt sorry for doing it, saying it was a "terrible fate" that he could prevent from happening, so long as Aang does agree to his terms.

Gathering on the balcony of an underground cave, Bumi proclaimed the first task was to obtain his "lunchbox key" that was hanging in the centre of a waterfall. As he watched, he sarcastically remarked that nobody had ever climbed the ladder before. He further ridiculed his friend for diving into the waterfall, saying that he should keep doing it and see what happens with each attempt.

Silently impressed by his completion of the task, Bumi told Aang that he needed help with something else before he could allow them to leave. Directing him to the next arena, he asked the Avatar to bring him Flopsie, laughing at the young Airbender's attempts to catch the rabbit, whilst avoiding to be caught by a large goat gorilla. Upon Aang realising that it was in fact the goat gorilla that was Flopsie, Bumi called back his pet and began to play with him, rubbing his belly and cooing about how soft he was.

Chuckling at Aang's pushing for the third and final test, he lead them to the last of his arenas, explaining that the boy had to fight against any opponent he chose himself. He remarked that former should chose wisely though, criticising his decision when he was called on to fight. Shedding his robes, he revealed himself to be a powerful combatant with great abilities at Earthbending. Sending him hurling off the balcony, Bumi jumped into the ring, laughing as he approached his target.

Scolding his friend for underestimating him, he went on to tell the Avatar that he could not take back his decision now it was made, granting him permission to use his bow staff. Using his powers, he scoffed at Aang's reliance on "avoiding" and "evading" attacks, going on to call him predicable. Telling the airbender he would have to fight back, Bumi began pacing back and fourth, summoning sharp stalagmites to slow his opponent down.

Continuing to fight, Bumi kept goading Aang, remarking his attacks were not good enough and were more like a draft that a hurricane. He caused the ground to become like quicksand, dragging Aang into the depths as he struggled to break free as more rocks were manipulated to crush them. However Aang was able to get the upper hand and sends the destroyed wall and balcony fired at him back on his target with a tornado. Held at staff point, Bumi feigns surrender, only to hold a rock above both of their heads and threatens to drop it on them both. However he commended Aang for his abilities and passion, tossing the rock aside, falling back into the sand and manipulating it to travel to the other balcony and join Katara and Soka.

Bumi stated that all Aang had to do was to answer his question, telling the disgruntled hero that the point of his tests were to make him learn. He proceeded with the question, asking Aang to tell him his name, leaving him to guess the answer.

Confronting Bumi in the throne room once again, Aang repeated what his friend had told him all those years ago, once again calling him a "Mad Genius" and embracing him. Dropping the act, he warmly greeted his friend and added that he hadn't changed in all the years he had been trapped in the ice.

Freeing Katara and Soka from the Jemmanite prisons, he revealed that it was in fact rock candy, taking a bite out of it as Katara called him old. Although he was first affronted by this, he later agreed that it was true. When asked why he had not just told him the truth in the first place, Bumi remarked that it was fun to use mess with people, however went on to say that he also had to test Aang to see if he was ready to face the Fire Lord Ozai. He told Aang that he must master all four of the elements, insisting that he should use every technique that he can think of - both conventional and unconventional, in order to succeed and restore the balance of the world. He shared his approval at Aang's friends, stating that with them and Momo, he would complete his quest.

Thanking him for training him with his wisdom, Aang challenged Bumi to a race in the delivery carts, which he quickly snatched.

As a reward for his bravery and courage, his family were given titles, land, a keep and their own sigil to fight under. The banner they chose was that of three hounds on a yellow field, with the dogs acting as a tribute to the three that lost their lives to the lioness.

Clegane married and soon bore a son, who continued to work in the kennels. There the son reared the dogs to hunt, fight and kill. Lord Tywin Lannister demanded that he taught not only the hounds learn how to kill, but also his sons.

Eventually the son married and bore three children, Gregor, Sandor and a young daughter. Gregor and Sandor fulfilled Tywin's wish, becoming familiar with the art of murder and bloodshed. Meanwhile their sister went missing during the early years of the children growing up, with many suspecting that she was a victim at Gregor's hand, along with numerous servants of the Clegane Keep who had disappeared without a trace.

Prince Rhaegar, on the protestations of Tywin, personally knighted Gregor and made him a sworn knight, bringing honour to the family. It is dangerous to procure, as it is removed from living Manticores that are temperamental and violent when provoked (yet can be trained).

It is often used by The Red Viper Oberyn Martell, who coated his sword, knives and spears with the substance before entering lethal conflict.

In his private chambers of King's Landing, Oberyn expressed some of the venom from one of his pet Manticores, taking multiple samples. One of those vials of Venom were used on his spear, while the other was given to his squire Daemon, so that he could coat it with a concentrated dosage closer to the start of his fight between The Mountain.

Blood - The Princess and the Queen (2013)

With his name removed from all frame of knowledge, the man who would become known as Blood was an erstwhile sergeant of the City Watch, who was dismissed by the commander and crown after he drank himself into a deep rage and killed a prostitute with his bare hands. He later became a butcher and a mercenary. He was a very large and powerful man, with proficient training he picked up during his days in the Watch.

He was contacted by a "Pale Stranger," who put him on the task with a known and respected rat-catcher to break into the Red Keep and assassinate one of King Aegon II's children as revenge for the death of Lucerys Velaryon. The orders that he had been given by the former Mistress of Whispers, were to kill a son and a son only.

With Cheese's help, they were both able to slip into the castle undetected, breaking into the guarded Tower of the Hand without bloodshed. Breaching Queen Alicent's chambers, Blood strangled the dowager's bedmaid while his helper took Alicent hostage.

Blood attacked Queen Helaena and her guards, trapping them all in the room and murdering all but Alicent, the Queen and her children. He threatened to kill them if they called out for help. Listening to her pleas to sacrifice herself for her children, he remarked that she wasn't their target and that only the life of a son would balance out the carnage of the Dance of Dragons.

He considered raping Jaehaera as a means to relieve his boredom, forcing Cheese to intervene and demand that Helaena made her decision faster. Receiving the signal from the rat catcher, he decapitated Jaehaerys with a single blow, stealing the severed head and escaping with it before they could be caught.

His actions had a lasting effect on Helaene, eventually leading to her suicide and the riot in King's Landing that helped destroy the majority of Queen Rhaenyra's support within King's Landing.

Cheese - The Princess and the Queen (2013)

Formerly hired by the royal family to act as a rat-catcher to the Red Keep, history and songs would only remember this man as Cheese.

Following the death of Lucerys Velaryon, Daemon Targaryen asked the King's former Mistress of Whispers to find him some assassins that could kill one of King Aegon II's sons. "The Pale Stranger" hired Cheese along with an ex member of the Gold Cloaks to complete the act, fully aware of his knowledge of the tunnels and passageways beneath the stronghold. Utilising the snickets, Cheese led the two of them into the very centre of the castle, slipping past all the City Watch and King's Guard without being detected.

History questioned whether they were also tasked with making an attempt on the King's life as well, however many people said that Cheese's memory of the entrances would not have been enough to get into Maegor's Stronghold.

Instead they attacked the Tower of the Hand, entering the bedchamber  of dowager queen Alicent Hightower and taking her hostage. Cheese tied her up and waited for Queen Helaena and the children to arrive to say goodnight to their grandmother, which the assassin knew was a nightly ritual for the Queen and her progeny.

He snuck out from the shadows and captured Maelor Targaryen, declaring to the queen that they were "debt collectors" with the goal of "a son for a son".  He went on to promise that they would not hurt the others, as long as they could kill the son she chose without any delay or obstruction. He advised that she hurried up and made her choice, fully aware of Blood's proclivity for rape and violence and warning her that if the former sergeant got bored, he would have no qualms with sexually assaulting her six year old daughter Jaehaera. Finally, growing impatient of pushing her, he gave her the ultimatum to chose one or all of the children die.

Hearing her choice to kill her youngest son, Cheese viciously remarked to the two year old that Halena wanted him dead, before giving Blood the signal to decapitate Jaehaerys. In the panic and confusion, Cheese and Blood escaped and were never seen again.

Their actions helped lead to the suicide of Queen Helaena and open rebellion throughout King's Landing, prompting the destruction of the Dragon Pit, forcing Queen Rhaenyra to flee back to Dragonstone for her life.

Although Kord put up a fight, he was eventually killed, but not before the Scarab was sent hurtling out of Kord Industries in the resulting explosion - leading to the Scarab bonding to Jaime Reyes' spine.

Formerly one of the Light's enforcers and operatives, Deathstroke was made chief enforcer, replacing the angered Sportsmaster - without the latter's knowledge. He was granted pivotal information, including a list of the Light's operatives, as well as the names of the seven members that formed and controlled the running of the group.

"True Colours"

Before Sportsmaster can kill Black Manta with a throwing disk in the Light's West Mongolian Hideout, Deathstroke shot the projectile out of the sky, coldly regarding his former partner with a stare.

Chasing after Sportsmaster as Crock made his escape, relieving that he was outmatched against one of the best assassins in the business, Deathstroke attempted to eliminate his former teammate for his betrayal. However both Lawrence and his daughter Jade (the pilot of Crock's helicopter and the assassin known as Cheshire) managed to get away.

"The Fix"

Backed up by Tigress (the undercover Artemis Crock), Deathstroke was sent by Black Manta to capture Miss Martian and return her to the Manta-Sub, tracking down their target to a junkyard in Chicago (the cover for a Zeta Beam) on the ninth of August.

Interrupting an intimate conversation between M'Gann M'orzz and La'Gaan, Deathstroke told the pair that although he hated to interfere with their "inter-species romance," he was going to to have to kidnap Miss Martian as part of his contract. Using his sword to refract sunlight into their eyes, he jumped down from his position on top of an old car, kicking Lagoon Boy to the ground.

Making several swipes at his Atlantean Opponent, Deathstroke grew angry at Lagoon Boy's call for backup, kicking him against a used car whilst stating that he could not "savour the battle" with a time limit placed on their heads.

He was unphased by Lagoon Boy transforming into shape and mass with magic, using explosive pellets to blast him back and send him hurtling into a car with such force that it broke his leg. Callously remarking that he didn't want to leave a "poor animal {to} suffer," he punched La'Gann in the face, calling it an "antithetic" and turned his focus back to their primary target on "The Light's Hit List."

Taking the opportunity to catch M'Gann offguard, having been incapacitated by Tigress, Deathstroke attached a Belle Reve Inhibitor Collar around her neck, triggering an electronic pulse through it that rendered the martian hero unconscious. They leave with their hostage, escaping in the Manta Flyer just in time to avoid meeting Superboy and Nightwing.

Bringing their hostage back to the Manta Sub, Deathstroke acted as security to Kaldur'ahm's life, ordered to activate a controlled explosion within the collar if Miss Martian did not successfully reverse the damage she had caused him. He had control over her powers remotely, initiating her telepathic powers on Black Manta's orders, whilst keeping out of her telepathic range to ensure she did not manipulate his thoughts with her powers.

"Complications"

For more than a month, Deathstroke continued to monitor Miss Martian's progress, giving regular updates to Black Ma
nta, unaware that Kaldur had in fact already been helped and was biding his time to help provide M'Gann with an escape plan.

Giving his final update to Black Manta on the twenty seventh of May, Deathstroke agreed to detonate the bomb if Miss Martian did not complete the repair within 24 hours. He allowed Tigress to go on a break after working a full twelve hours, continuing to keep watch himself.

He alerted Black Manta to Cheshire's attempt on Kaldur's life, activating Miss Martian's collar to block her telepathy, right in the middle of her attempt to call Cheshire off from her attack. He also made a call to Tigress, ordering her to return to fight Cheshire, while he made preparations to board the submarine himself - having lost the
video feed to the room when Miss Martian shot out the security cameras .

Arriving through the airlock just as Cheshire and Sportsmaster began preparing their wet suits for escape, he mockingly asked if they were going to leave without saying "goodbye." The two former partners clashed in a violent fight, with Cheshite acting as her father's backup. Although Lawrence managed to disarm Slade, Deahstroke got him in an arm lock and turned a gun on the latter, however Cheshire intervened with a throwing disk.

Before she can deliver the killing blow, Tigress pounces on her, allowing Deathstroke to get a second wind. He told Tigress to stop "toying" with Cheshire, but was pinned against the wall by his partner under the influence of Miss Martian's telekinesis.

As Miss Martian (in a ploy to help Sportsmater and Cheshire escape unharmed) threatened to kill Deathstroke, the assassin for hire threw explosives at her feet, blasting the young hero back and rushing towards her. In a final move to escape, Miss Martian hurled him back, sending him crashing into Tigress, while the martian used her density shifting to sink through the floor of the sub.

"The Hunt"

Having access to his own Father Box, Deathstroke travelled to the War World via Boom Tube and used two electrified bolas to shock the Reach Soldiers guarding the Crystal Control Key from the Key Chamber. Unlocking the casing with the sentient being from Apokolips, he stole the Key and returned to Earth, taking the loot to Vandal Savage.

"Summit"

However at some point before the Light's summit with the Reach, Deathstroke was captured by Kaldur'ahm and the Team and quitely processed by the authorities. Miss Martian used her powers of shape-shifting to take on his appearance and help Kaldur and Artemis fulfil their undercover mission and destroy the Light's alliance with their alien partners.

Deathstroke: Miss Martian Disguise - Young Justice Invasion (2012)

At some point after his success at claiming the War World's Crystal Key, Deathstroke was captured by the Team and replaced by Miss Martian, who worked with Tigress (Artemis Crock) and Kaldur'ahm to secure Santa Prisca for the Light and the Reaches summit. In her guise as Deathstroke she also smuggled the Team into the ranks of The League of Shadows, all whilst staying completely undetected by the Light.

"Summit"

Ensuring the the make-shift summit chamber was not compromised, "Deathstroke" nodded to Black Beetle in mutual agreement that the summit could proceed as scheduled, stepping aside to let the Light's diplomats past. He silently removed his mask, following the direct instructions of Beetle, remaining on standby as tense words were exchanged between the two supposed allies.

Witnessing Black Beetle strike Black Manta and send him crashing to the ground, "Deathstroke" and Tigress attacked the Reach warrior, using his bostaff to electrocute his opponent and cause him temporary pain.

Upon the discovery of Tigress' true identity and Kaldur's betrayal, "Deathstroke" shot them both, as the Light "took care of their own". This action seemingly killing them and activating Aqualad's failsafe programme, revealing the truth behind the Light's sabotage of The Reach's operations. Vandal Savage demanded that he stop the hologram from running, however he questioned his employer how he was supposed to do that.

Miss Martian finally revealed herself, using her telekenesis to hold Deathstroke's sword to Vandal's throat and explained that she only temporarily "killed" her best friends, using "Hollywood special effects" to make it look believable.

After Superboy disrupted his operations on Earth in 2010, Desaad continued with his duties, building and developing more advanced weaponry to help arm the Light and their allies with numerous weapons, as per their agreement with Darkseid.

He was a trusted member of Darkseid's court, acting both as an envoy to Earth and as an observer to the partnership with the humans.

"Endgame"

On the fifth of July 2015, Desaad accompanied his master and a loyal member of the New Gods (G.Gordon Godfrey) to the terrace of Darkseid's stronghold, silently watching as Vandal Savage arrived via Boom Tube and greeted the latter with the statement "Business as usual."

Lord Randyll Tarly - A Game of Thrones (1996)

The Lord of Horn Hill, Randyll Tarly was a loyal bannerman to House Tyrell and answered many calls to arms when they were given to him by Lord Mace Tyrell. He was the father of five children, Samwell, Dickon and three girls.

He was the owner of the Valayrian steel greatsword Heartsbane, which was ancestral to House Tarly, being passed down from father to son for generations. However he deemed his son Samwell to be a disappointment, attempting to make a knight out of the pacifist by hiring several masters-at-arms. Randyll eventually came to despise Samwell for not living up to his expectations of the Tarly name.

In attempts to accustom Sam to hunting and blood, Randyll made his son watch as he "dress{ed} animals." He would also allow Sam to hold Heartsbane, resigning to the fact that he might not have any other children to carry on the five hundred year old tradition.

He was eventually given the son he had always wanted in the form of Dickon Tarly, leading him to push for his youngest son to be recognised as his heir to the title of Lord of Horn Hill and the wielder of Heartsbane. On Sam's fifteenth birthday, Randyll told Sam in the woods - as he was skinning a deer - that he wanted his son to "take the black" and join the Night's Watch, promising that if he did not do as he asked, he would lead a hunting party to hunt down Sam as though he were a "pig". He added that it would give him great pleasure to do so, expressing with content for his wife's love for her eldest son. But he went on to say that he would tell her it was an accident to spare her any pain.

Hokey - Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince (2005)

An elderly house elf in the service of Hepzibah Smith, Hokey performed numerous requests for mistress, serving her loyally and faithfully despite the constant stream of instructions placed upon her. Among many of those tasks, Hokey was to flatter her mistress about how she looked, which some people remarked were all lies she was told to say to fulfil her contract.

During Tom Riddle's time employed at Borgin and Burkes, Hokey witness several meetings between his mistress and the sales assistant.

On the afternoon of their final meeting, Hokey helped Hepzibah into her slippers, before answering his mistress' hurried command to get the door. Showing Tom into the room, she rushed off to bring the young assistant some of Hepzibah's homemade cakes, before lifting the enchantments protecting Helga Hufflepuff's Cup and Salazar Slytherine's Locket and returning with the treasures in presentation boxes. Setting down the boxes on her lap, Hokey stood by and watched Tom examine the Cup, taking it off her mistress when they were done with it.

Arriving for a fourth time, she took the box back to their hiding place, following his mistress' direction to seal them up with the "usual enchantments."

Two days later, Hokey was accused of the murder of Hepzibah Smith and was arrested by the Ministry of Magic. Having had her memories altered by Tom Riddle, Hokey confessed to have put a rare and dangerous poison into her evening hot chocolate, mistaking it to be sugar. She was convicted with charges of manslaughter, not looking further into the events after obtaining a supposed admission of her guilt, placing it on her having lost her faculties in her old age. Nobody on the Wizardgomot realised Hokey or Smith's connection to the two treasures of Hogwarts, which the Smith family discovered were missing by the time she was sentenced.

In an effort to discover the truth behind the early years of Lord Voldermort's rise to power, Dumbledore located Hokey and extracted her memories, in a hope that it could determine how to defeat the Dark Lord and also posthumously pardon her for Voldermort's crimes - for Hokey died shortly after the memory was removed.

However all the memory managed to prove was that Tom Riddle knew about her possession of these two artefacts. It did not prove that he was responsible for killing the descendant of Hufflepuff and stealing her personal treasures.

"Lord Voldermort's Request"

Witnessing Hokey's memories in the pensive, Harry Potter expressed his disgust at the treatment of the House Elf, finding it difficult to admit that he shared the sympathy and values of Hermione Granger's "Society for the Preservation of Elfish Welfare."

Prince Doran Martell - A Game of Thrones (1996)

The current head of House Martell and ruler of the Kingdom of Dorne, Doran Nymeros Martell was the husband of the Lady Mellario, fathering three children Arianne, Quentyn and Trystane. He was the Lord of the Sunspear, living in the Dornish seat of power.

He was the brother of Oberyn and Elia Martell, holding great resentment towards Tywin Lannister and his bannermen for the deaths of his sister, niece and nephew during the Sacking of King's Landing.

"Sansa V"

After Joffrey Barathen is made the King of Westeros, Grand Maester Pycelle reads out a Royal Decree at court, which states that all those named in his list must come to King's Landing and swear fealty to the new monarch or they would be seen as enemy to the crown. Doran's name was on the list as well as all of his sons, ignorantly overlooking the custom of the Dornish that states that the eldest child (Arianne) will next be in line for the title of ruler of the Sunspear.

Sansa Stark internally questioned the number and mused how it would take a lot of Ravens to get the message out, as well as how many enemies that the crown appeared to have.

"Eddard VX"

Whilst visiting the captured Eddard Stark in the black cells, Varys mentioned that Cersei will visit him tomorrow to discuss terms of an allainace - sparing him from the King's Justice if he swore fealty to Joffrey.

When asked why, Varys replied that the Queen Regent knew she had many enemies and did not think that the Martells would ever bend the knee to a Baratheon King when they had any ties to House Lannister.

King Argilac Durrandon - The World of Ice and Fire (2014)

Although the power that the Storm Kings of House Durrandon was greatly diminished from what they used to own, King Argilac was a "belligerent" leader, eager to keep the title of the Storm King and challenge any of the other six warring Kingdoms that attempted to undermine the rule of the Stormlands. He was the grandson of Arrec Durrandon and father to his only daughter Argella.

From a young age, Argilac took part in battle, defending his lands from an attack by the Martells of Dorne. He was also driven by the thought of gold and glory, joining forces with an alliance to combat the "imperialist tigers" from Volantis, decided that he would lead an army of his soldiers east and oppose the armies wanting to reclaim the city of Myr (the "Disputed Lands") for themselves.

Twenty years later, Argilac also killed the King of the Reach Garse VII Gardner during the battle of Summerfield. He had a violent enmity with Princess Meria Martell, calling her the "Yellow Toad of Dorne".

As he aged, his fighting technique and body began to get affected and weakened. After hearing that his grandfather had lost the Trident to the forces of House Hoare and it's leader Harren the Black, Argilac began to feel paranoid, seeing it as a threat to his dominance over the Stormlands. In an attempt to cement his power, he offered his daughter Princess Argelle to King Aegon I Targaryen as a bride, promising her an impressive dowry of "all the lands east of the Gods Eye". However Aegon declined the offer, reminding him that not only did he have two wives, but also that the lands he had been offering as a dowry also belonged to the Lord of Harrenhal for many years. He reacted with fury at the counter proposal that King Aegon I had proposed - Argelle's hand and all the promised lands, with the addition of Massey's Hook and the lands "south to the river Wendwater and the headwaters of the Mander," which would be given to Lord Orys Baratheon. Argilac violently refused this, believing that Orys was the bastard brother of Aegon, and declaring that he would not let his daughter marry a bastard. As an act of defiance, he had the hands of Aegon's envoy cut off and sent back to Dragonstone in a box, attaching a note that famously said "These are the only hands your bastard shall have."

Argilac refused the King's royal decree that there would now only be one King of the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros, whilst also declining the command to bend the knee and ensure the continuation of his lands and title as a vassal - a sign of mercy and good faith on King Aegon's part . He called for his banners, receiving the aid of the full force of the Stormlands and prepared to defend themselves against the Targaryens, who threatened to end all those who opposed Aegon's rule.

King Argilac gathered his forces in Storm's End, his ancestral home and seat of power, where he had heard the news of King Harren's death and the destruction of Harrenhal by dragonfire. Deciding that he would not allow himself to die in a manner similar to that of Harren, King Argilac rode into battle to meet his enemies on the battlefield.

He eventually met with the Targaryen forces (led by Orys, Hand of the King) south of the Bronzegate one stormy day. Believing them to be at a disadvantage from the weather, Argilac called for an attack (in a battle that would become known as the Last Storm), ignoring the council of his commanders to wait for more favourable conditions for all. Although they managed to cut through many of the Baratheon forces, they were met by Queen Rhaenys and Meraxes, who burned Argilac's personal guard. He was thrown from the saddle of his horse, who was so scared at the sight of the dragon. Hower he continued to fight, cutting his way through troops until he came face to face with Orys. He refused to stand down when offered by Lord Barartheon. Managing to wound Orys, he was felled by the younger lord in single combat.

In honour of his valour and his daughter (who the Hand did indeed marry), Orys Baratheon took on the family sigil and words of House Durrandom, as well as the castle of Storm's End.

Argella Durrandon - The World of Ice and Fire (2014)

The only daughter of Argilac of House Durrandon, Argella was told by her father that her dowry would by "the East of the Gods Eye from the Trident to the Blackwater Rush," and was offered as a potential bride to King Aegon Targaryen. However this proposal was rejected by the King, who was already married to two women.

After the death of her father in the Battle of the Last Storm, Princess Argella Durrandon sealed the gates of her ancestral castle of Storm's End as Lord Orys Baratheon and his legion marched towards them. Stating that she was now "The Storm Queen", she declared to Queen Rhaenys - who had flown in on the back of Meraxes to bargain - that none of her men would never bend the knee to the Targaryens. She went on to challenge Rhaenys, telling her that the only way they will get Storm's End is when it was nothing more than "bones and blood and ash."

However her men turned on her as means of a peaceful surrender, ambushing her when she was alone and stripping her of her power, rank and clothes. She was brought before Orys Baratheon in his camp, chained and gagged by her former soldiers, whilst the rest hoisted the peace banner from the walls of the castle.

Orys saw this as a vile and tasteless act, freeing her himself and wrapping the naked woman in his cloak. Together the two dined, where they eventually had a tranquil conversation. She listened as Orys recounted how brave and honourable King Argilac had in his last moments.

Eventually they were married and Princess Argella took on her husbands name as Lady Baratheon, in a manner similar to what he had done in taking the sigil and words of House Durrandon as his own.

Now living in her ancestral home as the Lady Baratheon of Storm's End, she was the mother of Davos and a second unnamed son.

He was the father of his only daughter, Aregella.

Argilac met Orys Baratheon in battle, leading to his defeat and death. His reign was over, ending the line of the Storm Kings. His land and castle were given to Baratheon, as well as his daughter. However Orys kept Argilac's family words and sigil to honour his enemy and his new wife.

He was responsible for killing the last of the Storm Kings - Argilac the Arrogant - in battle. As a reward for this, Aegon honoured him with all of the dead king's lands and castle. He also gave Orys permission for him to marry Argilac's daughter (Argella Durrandon). Starro's Tentacle - Young Justice (2010)

Having been destroyed by Black Manta during a mission for the Light, Prince Orm pulled the strings for the Echinoderm's tenatcle to be sent to "Surface World", under the pretence that they could study the alien creature in a secure laboratory - whilst making it easier for the Light to make another attempt for it.

The Tentacle had the ability to rapidly regenerate in order to keep Starro alive, eventually capable of producing for him a new body. The tentacle contained dormant abilities of mind control, which were exploited by the Light when it was combined with nano-technology, bio-technology and sorcery.

"Misplaced"

In the adult's dimension created by the combined forces of Klarion, Wotan, Wizard, Felix Faust and Blackbriar Thorn, Lawrence Crock organised a protest outside of S.T.A.R Labs Gotham City division, accusing them of being responsible for the disappearance of their children. This distraction allowed for the Riddler to sneak in and out of the building, stealing Starro's sample and getting away in Crock's car, whilst the  security was focused on aiding the G.C.P.D from preventing a riot from the furious mob.

Riddler and Sportsmaster brought the tentacle to the Brain and Monsieur Mallah, who congratulated Klarion for creating a scenario that caused so much panic, that no one realised that the Echinoderm was missing until it was too late.

"Insecurities"

On the 5th of December, The Brian, Mallah and Klarion hired Sportsmaster to break Professor Anthony Ivo out of prison and escort him to New Orleans, in order to experiment on the tentacle as part of the next stage of their plans against the Justice League.

After Ivo had been reunited with one of his M.O.N.Q.U.I.S, Mallah opened the case and extracted the sample, preparing for the four of them to start working on the creature at the same time. Hitting the tentacle with a laser to awaken it's abilities, the Brain allowed the M.O.N.Q.U.I to insert nano-technology into the flesh, whilst Klarion used his sorcery to add a techno-sorcery element to the being.

The four of them completed the process just as Artemis arrived to stop them. Klarion used his powers to teleport them and the tentacle - along with multiple pieces of Starro Tech, a biological segment of the tentacle mutated and altered by the addition of magic and nano-technology - to safety.

"Auld Acquaintance"

Whilst under the influence of Starro Tech, the end product of the Light's experiments to the tentacle, The Atom (Ray Palmer) was tasked with dissecting pieces of the source material for analysis - so that Ocean Master (Prince Orm) could finish the research that Dr. Vulko had started to Poseidonis. Using a laser to cut the flesh, Zatanna magically levitates a piece, forcing Palmer to increase his size to try and catch it. However this leaves him open to Miss Martian and a sample of the Cure Tech, rendering him unconscious and cancelling Klarion's possession of his mind and body.
