The Shepherd - The World of Ice and Fire (2014)

Believed to be a member of the Poor Fellows, The Shepherd was the name of an unknown man whose name had been lost to history, who had a great fear and distrust of any dragons - which he shared with many of the residents of Westeros. He was a worshipper of the Faith of the Seven.

He began to preach in the Cobbler's Square of King's Landing, declaring that dragons were nothing more than "demons" that were the "spawn of godless Valyria", adding that they would bring about death, destruction and "doom" to all of mankind if people let it happen. As he made his speeches, thousands of people began to listen, growing angrier and more vengeful against the dragons. His final declaration that King's Landing would be saved by the "cleans{ing}" of the dragons was the tipping point, leading to riots in the streets and an attack on the Dragon Pit.

Among his followers were two people who would go on to become historical figures during the songs of the Dance of Dragons; Hobb the Hewer and The Burned Knight.

He personally led the mob to the Pit, attempting to slay the four dragons that were nesing there, also resulting in the deaths of a fifth dragon, Ser Willum Royce (losing his Valyrion Steel sword Lamentation), Ser Glendon Goode and Prince Joffrey Velaryon.

Some rumours sparking from the event said that the Shepherd had killed some of the dragons by himself.

Having survived the destruction of the Dragon Pit, the Shepherd and the remaining members of his mob took control of parts of King's Landing, until King Aegon II returned and reunified the city.

However it was not known what had happened to him or his followers after the war had ended.
